The Allium database (EALLDB) was established at Wellesbourne, U.K. following the first meeting of the ECPGR Allium Working Group in Tápiószele, Hungary, in 1984. The database was rebuilt in 2006 to underpin the objectives of the [link]AEGIS Allium Subgroup to develop European collections and European Safety Duplicate collections for the vegetatively propagated Allium crops, namely garlic and shallot. The EALLDB was updated again in 2007 in support of the EU GENRES EURALLIVEG project. The EALLDB2007 database contains 14,194 accessions representing the 5 major Allium crops and the wild taxa from 43 institutions in 29 countries. The European Allium data are stored using the EURISCO Passport Descriptors (see [link]database description), and are available as downloadable [link]MS Excel or [link]MS Access files. Until December 23, 2011, the database was maintained by the Warwick HRI Genetic Resources Unit (GRU). On December 24, 2011, it was transferred to the Genebank Department of the [link]Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research Gatersleben (IPK), a  foundation under public law and member of the [link]Leibniz Association.
